How to Install a Car Seat | Fayetteville, NC

June 25th, 2024 by

Your child’s safety is at the top of the list when it comes to driving priorities. With Mercedes-Benz of Fayetteville, we want our Fayetteville, Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Lumberton, and Raleigh, NC customers to be educated on how to install a car seat, and to plan ahead for those summer road trips!

Choosing the Right Car Seat

Before installation, make sure you have the appropriate car seat for your child’s age, weight, and height. Car seats are typically categorized into three types:

  • Rear-facing seat: Infant to 12-months-old

  • Forward-facing seat: Around 1-3-years-old

  • Booster seat: 4-7-years-old

Positioning and Securing

Position your car seat in the back seat. With the LATCH system, you’ll locate your lower anchors and connect the lower anchor connectors to the lower anchors. After you have completed this step, double-check that they are securely fastened.

Then, pull the straps to remove any slack. The car seat should not move more than an inch side-to-side or front-to-back. For forward-facing seats, you’ll locate the top tether anchor and hook the top tether strap from the car seat to the tether anchor. Finally, pull the strap to make sure it’s secure.

By following these steps, you can ensure a secure and safe ride for your little ones. If you need any assistance, reach out to the Mercedes-Benz of Fayetteville team at (910) 487-0000. Shop for your summer-ready vehicle with us at 420 Glensford Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
