How To: Jump-Start Your Vehicle | Fayetteville, NC

The last thing we want is for our Fayetteville, Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Lumberton, and Raleigh customers to be stranded with a faulty battery. If this does happen, here’s how to jumpstart your vehicle! Make sure you have a set of jumper cables on hand.

 

  1. Find a friendly passerby to help you. Their vehicle needs to be facing yours, with the hoods close to each other.

  2. Locate the batteries under each hood as well as the battery terminals (one positive and one negative). This is what you’ll be using to jump-start.

  3. Using your jumper cables, place the red clamp on the dead battery’s positive terminal. Then, place the other red clamp on the working battery’s positive terminal.

  4. Now, with your black clamps, get one and put it on the working battery’s negative terminal. Place the other black clamp on a metal surface without any paint on it.

  5. Finally, the person with the working battery needs to start their engine. Then you can get into your vehicle and try to start your engine.
